Arnold Ray Helmick, Sr., 84, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away on October 7, 2025, at Weirton Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born on January 19, 1941, in Dodson Run, West Virginia to the late Gale and Helen (Bennett) Helmick.
Arnold was lovingly referred to as “Arn” or “Bill” by many who knew and loved him. He was in the United States Airforce and went on to serve in the Vietnam war. He worked as a Stationary Engineer for the Ford Motor Company. He married the love of his life, Janice Ann Wisard, in 1975 and together they created a family and life they loved. The pair would often travel together in their fifth wheel camper and spent many nights going to Blue Grass Gospel Sings and listening to live music on their camping adventures. Arn loved to fish, especially for trout, and dedicated whatever time he could doing so—especially in the tranquil hills of West Virginia. He was a 7th Day Adventist Christian, and lived a life filled with the Lord and his word. He dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his children, Elizabeth Button, Thomas Helmick, and Arnold Ray Helmick, Jr.; grandchildren, Jodylynn Roberts and Angel Johns; siblings, Linda (Ronald) Waymire and Gerry Helmick.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Janice Ann Helmick; children, Amelia (Dave) Wise, Rosemary (Randall) Roberts, Sheree Kandel, William D. Helmick, Sr., Lori Helmick-Winesickle; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; siblings, Donna (Gary) Jekubik and Richard (Lucy) Helmick; sister-in-law, Susan Helmick; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
