Betty Lou Harris

Betty Lou Harris, 86, of Cadiz, passed away on February 2, 2024, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville, Ohio. She was born on March 24, 1937, in Bellaire, Ohio, a daughter of the late John Clifford and Margaret Young McLeod. 

Betty worked at Scio Pottery, Jewett Bank, and upon retirement at a Country Club in Florida. When she returned to the area, she enjoyed working at Archer’s Restaurant in Carrollton, Ohio, and on a whim, she took up a job as a breakfast server at the local hotel where she was recognized for her welcoming and outstanding service. She was an avid bowler for several decades and was a fantastic roller skater in her time. She also loved spending time with and caring for her two rescue cats, Chloe and Pete, and appreciated her neighbor Lisa helping with them. More than anything, Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her children and her granddaughter, Randi, were her entire world. 

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Neal Harris; a son, John Michael “Stick” Harris; sisters: Jean Seiverston, Alice Brown and Joyce Wolfe; and brothers, Leo McLeod and Norman McLeod. 

She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Randy) Giacobbi; granddaughter, Randi (Danielle Cross) Giacobbi; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Harris; sister Margaret Ann Lightner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 6-8 at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home. There will be calling hours on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Ashley Steele officiating at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Fairview Gardens Cemetery in Jewett, Ohio.
