Betty Lou Lee

Betty Lou Lee, 82, of Tappan Lake, passed away peacefully at the Park Village Health Care residence community in New Philadelphia on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025.

Born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 12, 1943, she was the daughter of the late George D. and Ann (Hutchinson) Hawk. Betty greatly enjoyed sewing, cooking, attending family gatherings and hunting for the next great bargain. She was a member of the Homemakers Club of Brushy Fork as well as the Tappan Red Hat Society.

On May 18, 1963, she married her Cadiz High School sweetheart, Dale M. Lee with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage. Together, they raised three sons, enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and visiting local festivals. They also worshipped at the Pleasant Valley Church near Tappan Lake.

Betty is survived by her children, Tom (Dianna) Lee of Louisville, Kentucky and Steve (Hope) Lee of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Morgan (Michelle) Lee-Barton, Hannah Lee and Grace Lee. She has now reunited with her son Brian who passed in 2008.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her sister Deanna Thompson of Cadiz, Ohio. Betty has three surviving sisters; Karen Williams of Lake Worth, Florida, Gay Hawk of Chesterfield, Virginia and Jackie Dunlap of Cadiz, Ohio.

Visitation will be held at Pleasant Valley Church at Tappan Lake, 35500 Cadiz-Dennison Road, Cadiz, Ohio 43907, on Monday, October 13th, 2025, from 11:00 to 1:00 PM with a memorial service beginning at 1:30 PM. Pastor Mike Cunningham will be officiating, and cremation will take place following the service.
