Betty Smith

Betty Marie Waller Smith, 92, of Cadiz, Ohio passed from this life to life eternal with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 11, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Harvey and Jessie Bell Waller of Unionvale, Ohio. Betty was married to Earl R. Smith for 32 years. She was a long time employee of the Cadiz Puskarich Public Library. Many children from the Cadiz area fondly remember her as the "Story Lady." Betty also worked for Dr. Martin of Adena, Ohio and during World War II in an ammunition factory in Columbus, Ohio. A member of Asbury Chapel, she was an avid prayer warrior, taught bible study, and Sunday School classes. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents; by her brothers: Lawrence (Wilma), Raymond (Edna), Francis (Pauline); sisters: Elizabeth (Joe Reneker), Audrey (Arthur Ferris), and Flora Lukens; her beloved sons: Mark and Richard; great grandson, Chad Johnson; and a grandson by marriage, Curtis Cerrett. She is survived by her daughters: Linda (Jim Kelley) of Scio, Kay (Reed Wilson) of Palm Coast, Florida and Jane (Walt Lippian) of Palm Coast, Florida; two daughters-in-law, Yvonne Smith of Steubenville and Darla Smith of Cadiz; and a brother-in-law, David Lukens of Lancaster, Ohio. Betty had 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She knew and remembered their birthdays by sending cards to each one. Visitation will be from Monday, September 15 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz with Rev. Richard Hasley and Pastor Mark Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Jewett, Ohio. In Lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorial contributions to Asbury Chapel, P.O. Box 213, New Athens, Ohio 43981.
