David W. Downs, 69, of Cadiz, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. He was born September 15, 1940 in Scott, Arkansas, a son of the late Paul and Mary Hester Tomkins. Dave was a retired truck driver and a Navy Veteran participating in Operation Hardtack, a nuclear testing operation. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Gonzales. Surviving are his wife, Claudia James Downs; a daughter, Sheila (Ron) Parsons of Millersburg, OH; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a brother, Chris Downs of Wyoming. Friends may call Saturday, June 26, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Military honors will be performed by the Hopedale American Legion.
