David J. Gribben, 68, of Hopedale, died Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Oakland Veteran's Hospital in Pittsburgh. He was born May 12, 1949 in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of the late James and Jospehine Wisniowski Gribben. Dave was a member of Weirton Heights Church of Christ, where he was an Elder for many years. He was an Electrician and Supervisor for Blast Furnace Electric at Weirton Steel Corp. An avid golfer, it is said that in retirement he worked part time and golfed full time at Spring Hills Golf Club. He was a Coast Guard Veteran of the Vietnam Era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant brothers and an infant sister. Surviving are his wife, Patty Midcap Gribben; a daughter, Valerie (Mike) Efaw of Fairmont, WV; a son David (Jennifer) Gribben of Florence, SC; seven grandchildren, Kathryn (Ricky) Musgrove of Barrackville, WV, Michael, Samantha and Constance Efaw, all of Fairmont, WV, Trevor (Kimberlin) Gribben and Tyler and Taylor Gribben, all of Florence, SC; two great grandsons, Andrew and Oliver and one on the way; a sister, Jean (Corliss) Wetzel of Weirton, WV; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, 2-4 and Monday, 10-11 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz Ohio, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Steve Smithbauer officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Cadiz American Legion. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Cemetery near Hopedale.
