Denise M. Sturgeon, 56, of Cadiz, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 9., 2026 at Harrison Community-Wheeling Hospital Emergency Room. Denise was born August 30, 1969 in Cambridge, Ohio a daughter of Lorina McAfee Hunter and the late Hubert Hunter. Sr..

Denise was a loving mother and grandmother and a homemaker.

In addition to her father, she was preceded by her granddaughter, Eboni McAfee and a brother: Hubert Hunter, Jr.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years, Ralph Sturgeon of Cadiz; her mother, Lorina McAfee Hunter of Cadiz; 2 sons: Josh (Deneve) McAfee of Cadiz and Ralph Sturgeon, Jr. of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; 3 daughters: Jennifer Travis of Coshocton, Jessica McAfee of Coshocton and Julie (David) Howard of St. Clairsville; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; a brother, Michael Hunter of Newcomerstown and a sister, Amy Hunter of West Lafayette, Ohio.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of her funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family,
