Edward J. Sobolewski, 83, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away on May 10, 2025, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville, Ohio. He was born on June 26, 1941, in Steubenville, Ohio, and he was the son of the late Edward and Laura Filip Sobolewski.
Edward was a proud graduate of Steubenville Big Red High School. He worked at Wheeling-Pitt Steel and also for some time as a police officer in Smithfield, Ohio. Edward was a member of the Smithfield Masonic Lodge #182 for many years. He was a long-time member of the Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz. In his free time, he was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening—he was especially passionate about his tomato plants! Most of all, he loved having the title of dad and Jaja from his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife, Linda Louann Worner Sobolewski in 2010; and his stepdaughter, Kristen Davia.
Edward is survived by his children: Edward (Susan) Sobolewski of Smithfield, Ohio, Sonya (Roger) Yanssens of New Alexandria, Ohio, Trent (Sue) Sobolewski of Lufkin, Texas, and Mark Reppart of Johnson City, Tennessee; son-in-law, Joel Davia; Grandchildren: Andi (Nick) Renforth, Allison (Peter) Boston, Abigail (Zack Lucas) Yanssens, Adrienne (Jason) Worrell, Macey Sobolewski, Kylee Sobolewski, Jonathan Davia, Koel (Megan) Davia, Austin (Alex) Reppart, Dillon Reppart, Graycie (William) Compton, and Josh and Blake Wilkie; many great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Toni) Sobolewski.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 10:00a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00p.m. at the Scott United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed Kovacik officiating. The Smithfield Masonic Lodge will hold services at 11:30a.m. at Scott United Methodist Church prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Olive Branch Cemetery.
