Eileen Lucille Prather, 88, of Cadiz, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Trinity Medical Center West in Steubenville surrounded by her family. Eileen was born October 28, 1937, in Harrison County, Ohio a daughter of the late Lester Albright and Mary Maxine Wilson Applegarth.
Eileen was a housewife for many years and also worked as a cook. She enjoyed helping people through her job driving for the county where she took people to doctors’ appointments. Eileen was a member of the Cadiz Eagles Auxiliary, #2162 where she currently served as a Trustee and was a past Madam President. She is also a previous State Grandmother for the Eagles as well. She was Catholic by faith. She loved spending time with her friends at the Eagles and playing cards there. She was also a social member of the Cadiz American Legion. Eileen liked quilting, puzzles, and playing the weekly crossword puzzle in the newspaper. She was an expert blueberry picker, and would have double the amount in her bucket than her family when they turned around to check on her! She adored her family and her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Eileen was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Otha Prather; brother, Charles Albright; sister, Sue Simpson; and son-in-law, Douglas Reese.
Eileen is survived by her 5 daughters: Christina Reese of Scio, Debra Yakubowski of Columbus, Jacqueline Yakubowski of Columbus, Lisa (Brad) Hunsucker of Cleveland Heights and Leslie (Chris) Emery of Massillon; 2 stepsons: Bradlee (Rochelle) Prather of Port Ludlow, Washington and Brent (Marybeth) Prather of Steubenville; 2 stepdaughters: Beth (Ted) Arneault, of Wheeling, West Virginia and Sandy (Douglas) Williams of Michigan ; grandchildren, Scott Reese, Heidi (Mark) Krocker, Garrett (Patty) Reese, Elysia Hendershot and Emily Hunsucker; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 2-4 and 6-8 at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz where her funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.. Eagles Auxiliary service will be held on Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
