Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Fledderus, 90, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away on October 14, 2025, at the Harrison County Home surrounded by her family. She was born on March 3, 1935, in Cadiz, Ohio, a daughter of the late William and Catherine Kasner Luther.
Betty married the love of her life, Myron, on August 20, 1955, and together they built a life they loved filled with their children. They devoted themselves to their community. Betty was a homemaker in the full sense of the words she organized not only in her household, but the lives of her children and husband. She had a special signal for Myron using the porch light, he knew if Betty had it on, he needed to stop to receive the mission she had for him, often someone in the community calling for their help because they knew the Fledderus family would always show up for anyone who needed them.
Betty created a safe space not only for her kids, but the children of the neighborhood—earning her the title of “Mother of Stanton Park.” She loved sewing, gardening, her cats, and always had a meal prepared for anyone who walked through her front door. Betty didn’t value material items, she was never a collector of trinkets, but preferred caring for people and collecting memories and time spent with those she loved.
She was devoted to her faith and her church, St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church. She was devoted not only to the Lord, but her church community. You could find Betty at the Community Hall of the church be it for weddings, funeral dinners, dances, she was there and happy to help prepare a meal for anyone in attendance. She worked as a secretary for True Value Hardware and LFC (Luther Fledderus Corso) Rentals. Betty always had items ready for the community yard sale at the church and was happy to help organize it.
She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Myron Fledderus on June 17, 2025; and siblings, Mary Catherine Corso, Teresa Luther, and William “Bill” Luther II.
Betty is survived by her children, Annie (Tim) Crouse, Susan Fledderus, Tom (Lisa) Fledderus and Christine (Jim) Lyons; grandchildren, Korey (Jenn) Crouse, Dylan (Bethany) Crouse, Nic (Holly) Fledderus, Lane Fledderus, Sarah (Bryan Barrett) Lyons, Jessie Lyons, Jimmy Lyons and Joey Lyons; 6 great-grandchildren and one due any day; a sister, Dorothy Luther; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz. A graveside service will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Fred Kihm officiating.
