Evelyn Giacobbi

October 30, 1933 — June 30, 2016

Evelyn Maxine Giacobbi, born October 30, 1933, of Cadiz Ohio passed away into our Lord's embracing arms on 06/30/16. She left this world, surrounded by her children's love, from her home that she and her husband John (Jack) Giacobbi built and resided in most of their married life. Surviving are her family: Lorri Giacobbi Valli Davenport (husband - Zane Davenport) sons Ben Davenport (wife - Amy, son Logan, daughter Paige Mcglothlin); Tim Davenport (daughter-Ember) Joddi Giacobbi (wife Lynn McCann) John Giacobbi (son Jack Ealy,(fianc Liz Harman, son Theo) She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Jack Giacobbi, son Jeff Giacobbi, parents Charles and Edna (Twigg) McDevitt, sister Marilyn (McDevitt) Maroni, brother Tom McDevitt, great granddaughter Ally Martin, and many other friends and family that loved her dearly. She was the salutatorian of her high school 1951 graduating class. On August 10, 1951, she married her high school sweet heart John (Jack) Giacobbi and their love for one another never diminished. After devotedly raising her children, she worked and retired from the Cadiz school district. She also worked elections for 32 years and served time as the town welcome wagon hostess. She was an active member of the Scott Memorial United Methodist Church and loved attending church, bible study, and found special joy from the singing fellowship. She belonged to the Mary Ruth circle, served as president and Treasurer of Swim (Scott Woman), and served as head of church hospitality for 8 years. Throughout her life she had an unwavering faith in God and she gathered her strength and guidance from the authority of God's word. Evelyn touched the lives of many with her loving, caring, and compassionate spirit. She was a true Christian servant that spent her life helping others; keeping her faith strong by seeking his guidance through daily prayer, reading her bible, and doing her devotions. She regularly visited the nursing homes, Harrison County Home, and shut-ins around Cadiz to provide fellowship (and gifts of cookies/crackers) to those she knew as well as strangers in need of companionship. She regularly sent cards to others; to say hello, give words of encouragement, offer sympathy, or to simply say thank-you for a kindness done to her or to others. She gave generously of herself to others in need. Her happiness in life was to love and care for her family and friends. She cherished family get-togethers, always insisting on holidays that she do all the cooking. She enjoyed listening to her 50's music often dancing around her home as the music played. She loved going to the "Doo Wop" festivals and other musical concerts. She enjoyed playing cards and board games, game shows (especially Jeopardy), keeping her home spotless and organized, crossword puzzles, sitting on her porch or swing enjoying nature's beauty, going out to eat, as well as finding "bargains" at the store that she then often gave away to others. One of her classmates from high school aptly stated that Mom was "an angel on earth". She is now truly an angel in God's almighty presence and is once again with her loved ones that have passed. Her children give thanks to God for the blessing of their parents' love. Friends may call Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, 951 E.
