Gary Smith

Gary William Smith, 67, of St. Clairsville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, August 21, 2022. Gary was born June 15, 1955 in Wheeling, West Virginia a son of the late Marion “Bud” William and Helen M. Hackley Smith.

Gary worked at Sears for many years and retired from Kroger in St. Clairsville. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye football fan, a 1973 graduate of Cadiz High School and OUE in 1977 and was a member of the New Athens Buck Club. He loved hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Cheryl Cross Smith of St. Clairsville; his children: Kristi (Jeremy) Volk of Blacklick, Brian (Michelle) Smith of Hopewell and Jane Marie (fiancé John Isenberg) Smith of Wheeling; 4 grandchildren: Jack Volk, Asher Smith, Elias Smith and Everlin Smith; and his sister, Shirley Smith of New Athens, Ohio.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 from 5-8 at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz where funeral service will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Nathan McKeen officiating. Burial will follow at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio.
