Gordon Marcellus Jones has passed away. He was born on November 15, 1935, and died on January 20, 2026, at the Meadows of Cadiz nursing home. He lived to be 90.
He was a member of the First Apostolic Church in Cadiz, Ohio where he was the deacon of the church. He was a Navy Veteran of 4 years. He retired from the Harrison County Garage after 31 years of service.
He enjoyed walking, golfing, gardening, yardwork, playing with his grandchildren, watching football with his son, wood carving, coloring, going to Roger’s Flea Market, shopping and many other activities.
He loved spending the holidays with his family. He was a loving husband, father of 7 children, grandpa, uncle, and sibling of 14 children.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Edith Jones, brothers, Dickie, Larry, Fritz, Mike, and a baby brother; sisters, Elaine, Joann, Ellen, Donna, and Sharon; former wife, Florence; and daughter, Debbie.
Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Vivian (Susie); siblings, Jerry of Cadiz, Roberta (Rick) of Pennsylvania, and Toni of Georgia; children, Anita (John) McCrary of Lithonia, Georgia, Tonya (Frank) Tyler of Massillon, Ohio, Delbert (Cheryl) Jones of Killeen, Texas, Chauncey Jones (Janelle) of Steubenville, Ohio, Tim (Melissa) Jones and Marcellus Jones of Cadiz, Ohio; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, as well as his church family.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz with Rev. Ray Ellenbaugh officiating. A military service honoring Gordon will take place at 12:45 p.m. Honored loved ones serving as pallbearers include: Marcellus Jones, Tim Jones, Delbert Jones, Brandon Jones, Frank Jones, Deron Jones, T.J. Jones, Mike Ross and T.J. Wright.
