James Carson

James H. Carson, 86, of Hopedale, died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. He was born April 24, 1927 in Hopedale, Ohio, a son of the late Edwin S. and Bertha Merryman Carson. Jim was the co-owner and operator of The Carson Company in Hopedale and Cadiz. He enjoyed woodworking, farming and driving his Jeep. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Dora Mae Manbeck Carson in 2006 and by a sister, Martha Jane O'Connell. Surviving are a son, James E. "Ed" Carson of Shelby, OH; three daughters, Dawn (Brad) Rogerson of Carrollton, Dee Ann (Bill) Travis of Clearwater, FL and Dena (Dan) McNutt of Carrollton; five grandchildren: Cassandra, Jessica, Brendon, Jenna and Bryce; a great grandson, Colten; a special niece, Connie O'Connell of Columbus; and his cousin, Richard "Dick" Carson of Hopedale. Friends may call Friday, 5-8 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dean Blythe officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale. The family wishes to offer special thanks to his friends at Gables Care Center in Hopedale.
