Jean Mallernee

Jean Grace Giffin Mallernee, 83, of Cadiz-Dennison Road, Cadiz, Ohio died Friday, June 20, 2003 at Harrison Community Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born January 25, 1920 at Rock Hill, Belmont County, Ohio to the late Everett Giffin and Grace Coleman Giffin. She along with her late husband Eugene Goodrich Mallernee will be remembered as owners of Mallernee's Wayside Market and Mallernee's Bait Shop. She was also a devoted member of Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church where she sang with the Pleasant Valley Singers. She was also a member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Mary Giffin; her husband; and four brothers: Lowell, Robert, Bernard and Roger Giffin. Surviving are four sons and four daughters-in-law:, Garry and his wife, Joyce Mallernee of Kannapolis, NC, Donald and his wife, Christa Mallernee of Bowerston, Dennis and his wife, Susan Mallernee of Cadiz, and William and his wife, LuAnn Mallernee of Cadiz; 7 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 step great grandchild; and a sister, Isabelle Greenlee of St. Clairsville, Ohio; and several dear sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. Friends may call Sunday, June 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, where Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 23, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. William Hibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church Cemetery.
