Mary Whitecotton

November 28, 1949 — April 14, 2016

Mary L. (Terry) Whitecotton, 66 of Cadiz, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at OVMC in Wheeling, WV. She was born November 28, 1949 in Martins Ferry, Ohio a daughter of the late Melvin A. and Mary Louise Wheeler Terry. Mary was an Income Maintenance Supervisor for the Department of Jobs and Family Services in Jefferson County for 31 years; a member of Scott United Methodist Church in Cadiz where she was in the Mary Ruth Circle, Praise Choir and did mission work. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters: Ann West, Patricia Ward, Jean Sanders, Judy Terry, Gail Terry and Carol Terry; and a great grandson, NaSaun Miller Johnson. Surviving are her husband, Doug Whitecotton; 3 daughters: Tonya Hampton of Wintersville, Dawn (James) West and Sonya Todd all of Cadiz; 7 grandchildren: Trystn, Celeste, Kasey, Logan, Landon, Brennan and Khi; 3 great grandchildren: Jayse, Kaesyn and Mary-Grae; siblings: Marlene Bias of Cadiz, Deborah (Nathan) Yetts of Steubenville, Melvin Terry, Jr of Cleveland, June (Lewis) Anderson of Cleveland, Duane Bias of Cadiz, Leon (Beverly) Terry of Cadiz, George (Carol) Terry of Flushing and Mark Terry of Cadiz; many nieces, nephews, cousins and others who called her mom, grandma and aunt. Mary has three loves in her life, her love of God, her love of family and her love of serving others by feeding them, giving them no-nonsense council, or some good old fashioned tough love. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of service at 5:00 p.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, 817 East Market Street, Cadiz with Rev. Thomas Snodgrass and Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Arrangements are by Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Cindy's Crew of the Ohio County Relay for Life at www.relayforlife/ohiocounty.org or to Scott United Methodist Church.
