Neil D. Porter, 79, of Cadiz, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at the Carriage Inn of Cadiz. He was born October 11, 1928 in Cadiz, a son of the late Adam Craig and Grace Dunlap Porter. In 1950, Mr. Porter began a career as the first employee of the R. & F. Coal Company in Cadiz, where he eventually retired as President. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church, where he was active in various offices and boards. An avid hunter and a farmer at heart, he raised Belgian Horses and Angus Cattle. He was a member of the Belgian Horse Association, the Harrison County Farm Bureau and Harrison Lodge 219, F. & A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Marguerite Morris and Dorothy Rose. Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Fryer Porter, whom he married in September of 1951; two sons, Craig (wife, Dianne) Porter and Joe (wife, Linda) Porter, all of Cadiz; seven grandchildren: Jessica, Adam, Steffannie, Sarah, Craig Neil, Christine and Bryan; a brother, Chester (wife, Joy) Porter of Cadiz; and four sisters, Jean (husband, John) Laughlin of Jewett, Cornell (husband, Dick) Walker of Cadiz, Miriam (husband, Bob) Addy of Scio, and Audrey Brown of Cadiz. Friends may call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, 172 S. Main St., Cadiz, Ohio, where funeral services will be held Friday, January 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
