Richard E. McCartney, Jr.

Richard E. McCartney, Jr., of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away unexpectedly on July 16, 2025, in Cadiz. He was born on July 1, 1971, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of Richard E. McCartney, Sr. and the late Leslie Tice McCartney.

Richard was an avid diesel mechanic. He did it both by trade and as a hobby. Cars, motorcycles, you name it, he loved to work on it! He especially loved tinkering with and rebuilding old tractors whenever he could.

He was preceded in death in addition to his mother by several aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his father, Richard E. McCartney, Sr.; sisters, Tawnya Cadegan and Angel (Troy) Bennett; brothers, Jessee, Jacob and Dave Rubins; children, Michelle Renee Bennedict, Michael Walenciej, and Ireland McCartney; 12 grandchildren; his lifelong best friend, Bill Dawson; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
