Robert Butler, Sr.

Robert L. ''Buzz'' Butler, Sr., 67, New Athens, Ohio, died Saturday, January 18, at Ohio Valley Medical Center, Wheeling. WV. He was born February 22, 1935 in Crabapple, Ohio a son of the late Roy and Pearl Abel Butler. He was a was a retired employee of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation in Martins Ferry; a pitcher for the Fairpoint-Lafferty baseball leagues from 1949 to 1964; also volunteered for the New Athens VFD for the past several years; a member of United Steelworkers of America; and a past member of the Fairpoint Polish Club. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, by brother William Butler. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marjorie Faust Butler; 3 sons: Bob and his wife Debi, Tom and his wife Rhonda, and David and his wife Leann, all of New Athens; 2 daughters: Marcia Thompson and husband Terry of New Athens and Betty Milhoan and husband Dave of St. Clairsville; he was also Pap to his 14 grandchildren: Chris, Angie and Jeremy Thompson; Veronica Edwards; Brandon and Ashley Milhoan; Joshua and Zac Butler; Zane and Mackenzie Butler; Brandon Huffman, Kylie Gill, and Ashton and Jaycie Butler; a sister and brother in law: Sue and Doc Baker of St. Clairsville; a sister in law Wanda Butler of Fairpoint; and several nieces, nephews, and devoted friends and family member including Tom and Pat Saffell of New Athens. Calling hours are Monday, January 20, 2-4 and 7-9 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, where services will be held Tuesday, January 21, at 11:00 a.m., with Mr. Max Cook officiating. Burial follows at Longview Cemetery, New Athens, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Athens VFD, c/o John Kurcuz, Box 65, New Athens, Ohio 43981.
