Ronald E. Carter

Ronald Ellis Carter, 64, of Cadiz, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on May 21, 2025, at his home. He was born on May 21, 1961, in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Ellis R. Carter and his mother who survives him, Ruth King Carter.

Ronald was an ambitious entrepreneur, opening a business at the age of 18 that led to numerous business locations and real estate properties. He was the owner and founder of the Pizza Express Pizza Shop in Cadiz, Ohio where he was lovingly referred to as the “True King of Pizza.” He was a fan of all Pittsburgh sports—he enjoyed watching the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins games. However, he would root for Cleveland as long as they weren’t playing Pittsburgh! He also loved animals, especially his dog PeeWee who he named in loving memory of his father.

He was preceded in death in addition to his father by his maternal grandparents, Willard and Alice King; and his paternal grandparents, Vernon and Bertha Carter.

He is survived by his son, Ronald E. (Kristen) Carter II; grandchildren, Alexis Beall, Ronald E. Carter III, Kaden D. Carter, Aaliyah Carter and Barrett Carter; siblings, Pam (Dan) Perko of New Philadelphia, Ohio, Gary (Buena) Carter of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Susan (Jeff) Deren of Tampa, Florida; his former spouse and mother of his son, Benita Kowal Walton; close friends, Abby (Chad) Spano and Tyler Spano; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Mark Smith officiating, all at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz.
