Ronald Lee Moreland

Ronald Lee Moreland, Sr., 84 of Minerva, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home. He was born March 22, 1942, in Duncanwood, Ohio a son of the late Johnathan Charles and Anna Catherine Polasky Moreland.

Ron was a lifelong resident of Minerva, aside from several years that he spent living out West. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and National Guard. In his earlier days, Ron loved exploring the outdoors, during his time out West he especially enjoyed sight-seeing in Wyoming, Colorado and Utah. He was a Mason and very proud of his time in the Masonic Lodge. In recent years, he had a passion for Bingo and his “Bingo Family” as he called them. He would play Bingo all around different areas every day of the week if he could! He was also a jokester and loved to make people laugh—he always said that his goal was to make someone smile whenever he could.

Ron was preceded in death in addition to his parents; by 3 brothers: Paul Allen, Charles, Jr. and David Oliver Moreland; and 2 sisters: Mary Coleman and Anna Mae Saltsman; grandsons, Dustin Lee Moreland and Stephen Michael Moreland; sister-in-law, Elizabeth “Libby” Moreland; a nephew, David (Junior) Moreland; niece, Elizabeth Squicky

Surviving is his son, Ronald Lee, wife Lisa, Moreland of Dennison; 2 daughters: Patricia Ann, husband Brad, Blair of Mineral City and Denise “Dee” Marie Hodkinson of New Philadelphia; companion, Beth Morrow; grandchildren, Brandy (Trevor Grant), Brent (Elizabeth Milburn), Derick (Megan) Hodkinson, Heather Hodkinson, Ashley Hodkinson, Curtis (Megan) Moreland, Andrew Moreland, Brandon (Desiree Harbold) Moreland, Katrina Roberts; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice Traditions of Bolivar & New Philadelphia for their excellent care to not only their father, but to them as well.

A Masonic Service will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. with calling hours 12:00 p.m. until the time of his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Joyce Barr-Peters officiating at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, 172 South Main Street, Cadiz, Ohio. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Hopedale, Ohio. Full military honors will be conducted by the Hopedale American Legion, Post 682.
