Ross I. Worrell, 61, of Freeport, formerly of Cadiz, died Tuesday at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 4, 1953 in Cadiz, Ohio, a son of the late Adrian and Mildred Harris Worrell. Ross was a former Coal Miner with Y. and O. Coal Company in Cadiz and a member of the UMWA. He was a trainer of Standard Bred Harness Horses and was an avid hunter and fisherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Robert Worrell; a daughter, Millie Worrell and a granddaughter. Surviving are his wife Carolynn Batten Worrell; a son, Brandon Worrell of the home; a sister, Patricia Smith of Canton; a sister-in-law, Aggie Worrell of Cadiz; three nephews, David, Doug and Adrian Worrell; a niece, Tammy Meisle and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
