Roy Eugene Jones, 83, of Cadiz, died Thursday at Trinity Medical Center, West in Steubenville. He was born July 23, 1931 in Unionvale, Ohio, a son of the late Eugene Bruce and Estella Coffman Jones. Mr. Jones was employed at Y. & O. Nelms # 1 Mine for 18 1/2 years, the last five years as Chief Electrician. He retired as a Federal Electrical Inspector from MSHA in St. Clairsville after twenty years service. He was an A/C 2nd class in the USAF from June 8, 1949 until December 3, 1952 and was a Radio Operator for Military Air Transport Division. He was a member of Scott United Methodist Church and Harrison Lodge, 219 F. & A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Linda Jones; four brothers, Bruce, Raymond, Charles and Keith Jones and two sisters, Evelyn Crupe and Hilda Hunt. Surviving are his wife, Carol Frashure Jones; two sons, Rick (Charlotte) Jones of Wintersville and Greg Jones of Cadiz; and two grandchildren, Hilary Jones of Columbus and Lucas Jones of Wintersville. Friends may call Sunday, 1-4 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Scott United Methodist Church, 817 E. Market St., Cadiz with Rev. Richard Hasley officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Scott United Methodist Church at the above address.
