Ruth Carol Dept

Ruth Carol Dept, 90, of Cadiz, Ohio went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born March 26, 1933, in Cadiz, Ohio to the late John Coursey and Rebecca Bigsby Golsby.

Ruth was a nurse. She was also a member of the St. James AME Ladie’s Auxiliary, St. James AME Choir, Stella Strothers Organization, the Cadiz American Legion Auxiliary, the U.S. Poetry Society, a library volunteer, and a Sunday school teacher at St. James. She also served as the treasurer of the church for 30 years.

She was preceded in death addition to her parents by a daughter, Susan Boyer; son, Timothy Brooks; brothers, Edward Golsby, and George Bigsby; and sisters, Phyllis Golsby, and Barbara Golsby.

She is survived by her children: Sherri Sanders and Cary Brooks; sisters, Ellen Coursey, Alice Golsby, and Betty Ann Golsby, 20 grandchildren, special mention to Carol and Daniella and thanks to her grandson Mark; a host of great grandchildren; a special thanks to her loving provider, Dawn; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024, from 11-1 at St. James AME with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Patricia Angel officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
