Samuel R. Sliva, 82, of Cadiz, died Friday, February 06, 2015 at Gables Care Center, Hopedale, Ohio. Sam was born December 2, 1932 in Adena, Ohio a son of the late Joseph and Julia Dulkowski Sliva Sam was retired from Consolidation Coal Company, a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church in Cadiz; a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the U.S. Army, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Cadiz American Legion Post #34 and the Harrison Central (Cadiz) Boosters Club. He was preceded in death in addition to his parents; by a sister, Mary; and a great granddaughter, Abigail. Sam is survived by his wife Carole Stackpole Sliva ; 3 children: Pat (Sherri) Sliva of St. Clairsville, Kim (Mike) Smith of Cadiz and Mike (Michele) Sliva of Cadiz; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers: Rich (Sue) Sliva of Rogers, AK and Dave (Donna) Sliva of Rock Hill, SC; 2 sisters: Francis (Ed) Figurski of Adena and Susan Sheatzley of Powell, Ohio. Calling hours will be held Sunday, February 8 from 1-5 at Clark-Kirkland Funeral Home, Cadiz. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Cadiz with Monsignor John Kolesar the Celebrant. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio. Military honors will be provided by the Cadiz American Legion. Vigil service will be held Sunday at 4:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cadiz American Legion, Spring Street, Cadiz, Ohio 43907 or Gables Care Center, 351 Lahm Drive, Hopedale, Ohio 43976.
