Shawna Marie Smith

Shawna Marie Smith, 39, of Unionport, passed away unexpectedly on September 25, 2026, at Akron Summa Care Hospital. Shawna was born April 14, 1987, in Steubenville, Ohio, a daughter of Roger and Tracey Smith of Unionport, Ohio.

Shawna worked at Fayette Parts Napa in Steubenville. She was a Mustang car enthusiast. She loved the color baby blue. She also adored children, and they loved their “Aunt Lou.” She loved cats, having eight of her own!

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Bonnie Dayton; paternal grandmother, Armatha Furbay and 2 aunts: Jamie Ann Dayton and Kelly Dayton.

Surviving in addition to her parents is her brother, Christopher (April) Smith of Unionport; maternal grandfather, Kenneth Dayton of Bloomingdale; nieces and nephews, Jeremy (Allie), Shyann, Mackenzie, Letty and Colt; 3 great nephews, Jeremy, Cole and Zackaria; and 2 cousins: Zachary Dayton and Madison Dayton.

In lieu of flowers and honoring Shawna's love for her cats and animals, donations may be made to the Jefferson County Humane Society, 200 Airpark Drive, Wintersville, Ohio 43953.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. with Paul Giffin officiating at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home in Cadiz. A private burial will take place at Bloomingdale Cemetery.
