Stella Carothers

Stella Carothers, 79, of New Cumberland, West Virginia, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Valley Hospice Care Center North in Steubenville. She was born on April 24, 1946, in Ireland, to the late William and Christina Toal Hooker.

Stella worked as a health care aid at the Carriage Inn for many years, worked as a private aid and was the school crossing guard for Harrison Hills City Schools.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband, Edward B. Carothers; and 3 brothers, Ron, Joe and Bill Hooker; a brother-in-law, James Hanlon and a sister-in-law, Rose Hooker.

Stella is survived by her daughter, Tammy Logsdon of New Cumberland, West Virginia; son, Michael Carothers of Scio, Ohio; 7 grandchildren: Tony, Ryan, Chad, Brook, Steven, Josh, Tanisha and Larissa; a number of great grandchildren; a brother, James Hooker of New Cumberland, West Virginia; a sister, Sue Hanlon of Follansbee, West Virginia; and a sister-in-law, Nancy Hooker of New Cumberland, West Virginia.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Clark-Kirkland-Barr Funeral Home, Cadiz from 12:00 p.m. until time of her funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Ray Ellenbaugh officiating. Burial will follow at Cadiz Union Cemetery.
